You need to think about how much time and space you have to dedicate to the care of the cats, as well as money for their food and health care. Nor all cats get along with others, and that must be taken into consideration when bringing a new animal in. I personally think anything over 10 or 12 is too much, but even that is alot if you can't care for them. I had a friend tell me about the townhouse next door to hers, it had been abandonded. About 50 cats were found inside, a dozen already dead, another dozen or so had to be put down.

my friend had 7 cats in his 1 bedroom apartment and it was too much cats!! Wherever you looked, it was cats!! And then one of the cats had 3 kittens. Oh my Gosh! I stopped coming over. lol But I have 2 cats and its enough. I think 3 is the most that a person can/should have.

Breeders may have 30 or so cats, depending on who's dropped a litter recently....

Most people who are "owned" by cats (that I know) really have a hard time providing enough special love and care for more than 7-8 indoor kitties, although I do know one really dedicated catlover who has 16. (No idea how she manages to get any space in the bed at night, and no idea on how she copes with the litterboxes....) But that's practically a full-time job, feeding, cleaning up, monitoring health, petting/talking to them....

maybe one or two at the most ! You still need to be able to take care of them. Cats can be costly if they get sick. And easier to take care of when it's only no more than 2. I personally have 2 cats and totally happy with them .

`In my younger years my family had 3 adults and 11 kittens at one time. I've heard of people with over 100 cats. A breeder might have several hundred.

It depends on your ability to care for them. For many people one or two cats is quite enough, while others go completely overboard until the county is forced to step in and take action. My fiancée & I have six in our home. Before we met we each had one rescued cat, but then I was adopted by three feral kittens. We moved in together, and then adopted one more from a friend who was moving and unable to keep his kitten. Believe me, six is plenty of cat for us!

by law in Canada you are allowed up to 4 pets per house hold. But if your a pet lover, and you have enough money you should be allowed as many as you want. My mother in law once had 16 cats.

HOW MANY DO YOU WANT???? I THINK YOU CN HAVE AS MANY AS YOU CAN TAKE CARE OF FINANCIALLY!!!!! AS WELL AS PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY. SPAYING & NEUTERING IS EXPENSIVE AND IMPERATIVE. THE MORE HOUSE CATS THE MORE LITTER BOXES ( I DON'T ALLOW MY 2 OUT). THE MORE YOU HAVE OUTSIDE THE MORE YOU'LL FIND BODIES IN THE ROAD. I SHOULD THINK 2 ARE PLENTY.

It's "possible" to have as many as you can take care of. You need to consider fincances for food, vet and general maintanence and you also need alot of space and a wide variety of toys for them to play with.
