In my opinion they are. Then I am dedicated cat lover. It depends on what you want from your pet. Do you want someone to play "fetch" with and take on long walks? If so , a cat is not for you. Conversely if you are looking for a pet that is independent, cuddly, and easy to care for a cat may be just what you want. I think you really need to consider your personality and what type of pet you are looking for. Pets of all kinds require lots of care and attention as well the expense of food, toys, and vet bills. You also need to remember that cats and dogs can live at least 10-15 years with the proper care.

Cats are a wonderful pet. I have had one for eight years now and I love her to death. Her name is Boo-Boo and is a short haired tabby. Her fur is black and white. She is very independent, she will let you know when she is out of food. She also loves to sit in the sink in the bathroom in the mornings while i am getting ready for work. She does not ask for a whole lot but gives me so much love in return. And I swear she knows when I have had a bad day or not feeling well. A cat is a very good choice for a pet. Good Luck!!

picking your pet is a very personal thing if you need companionship pets are great but you have to make sure you have enough time to devote to a pet it also depends on the animal you get some cats are independent, which is good if you work and don't have a lot of time to spend on pets, but some can be very affectionate and sweet. cats have earned a bad rep from hollywood as being the bad guides as aposed to dogs who have been labeled the good guys but they really are loving things personally i preffer the affectionate cats their soooo cute and sweet

My cat is the most awesome pet in the world. She is calico, soft, happy and flops around like a little beanbag when you hold her. I LOOOOOOVE her. I've had a lot of pets, but once you find a cat like mine, there is no other.

I find that cats are ideal pets for inside a home or an apartment.It's very easy to litter box train them.They dont smell as long as you change their litter box on a regular basis.I wanted to let you know this,You are not supposed to give cats baths,they groom their own bodies.If you are to have a cat as an outside pet know this..you dont own a cat...they own you.They come and go as they please.

yea they are except 4 the fact that they shed 2 much personally i dont like cats but they are good pets

I have had many cats in my life
some are just cats..they hang around and they kind of do what they want to do when they want to do it....
but I had two cats that were so so much more...one when I was younger that would go outside, and when I wanted him..I would whistle like you do for a dog..and in a few minutes ..you would hear banging on the back door....he would sleep on my head board ..he had so much smarts..so much more than any other cat I ever had...so much fun to play with...
and another cat .she thought she was my girlfriend and she stayed inside..she did not like nay other female coming near me..she would like only one or two throughout her life...and she was usually right..she also slept on my head board and would play a lot with me..and sit with me and come when she was called and fetch stuff like a dog..and when I was not feeling well both would know it and come and be soft and comfort me...
they also were great night watch dogs..and would wake me up if something was wrong...but not for silly things..hard to explain...the last one would sit and wait until it was five minutes before i was supposed to wake up in the morning and she would wake me up..when all the power would go out..always five minutes before I was supposed to wake up..I was never ever late for work..when the power was on..she would just sit int he chair and wait for me...
so yes cats are nice..

I think they are. However, their personality varies greatly with the specific breed. I have two mixed breed cats, and they are playful, yet gentle. One sleeps next to me every night. It's also nice that they are more independent, going to the bathroom in a litter box. :) Here is a litter article with more about the good and bad points of cats, and cats in general. Yes, very easy to take care of. They need food, water and a clean litterbox. Oh yeah, some love too. No hitting or smacking. Use a water sprayer to correct bad behavior.
