1. Clear a sore throat and cough with honey. Do it yourself by putting a quarter cup of honey into a jar, then adding a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice or vinegar. Take a teaspoon of this every two to three hours for your sore throat and coughing. Laryngitis can often be soothed and cleared up completely, using the same concoction.

2. A honey drink is better for you than caffeine when you need a boost. Add a tablespoon of honey to a cup of hot water and drink up. You can use vinegar or lemon juice for an even healthier boost.

3. It's been said that honey will rid one of hay fever symptoms if you chew the wax cappings from a honeycomb. Chewing this wax also has been said to be helpful in controlling sinus problems. Taking a teaspoon of local honey is probably more effective, at least for some allergy sufferers.

4. Here's a wonderful facial for acne or oily skin: Use a tablespoon of ground oatmeal (put oatmeal in your blender for a few seconds), add a tablespoon of honey and a few drops of water to help mix it. Wash your face, then spread this mixture on it and relax for at least 10 minutes. Remove with a cloth or facial tissue, then rinse your face in warm water. This is especially good for psoriasis or other irritations.

5. Honey will calm you or a child and help you sleep better. Put it in a cup of warm milk for a child - he will think it's a treat. For yourself, put it in hot tea. You'll think it's a treat, too.

6. Honey is antibacterial and has been used for centuries to treat wounds. Alternative medicine today uses it today for the same reason. You can use it for minor wounds, scratches and cuts to keep them from being infected. Just spread it over the area and cover. It can be removed with warm water. Not only will it keep the wound from becoming infected, it encourages healing and seals in moisture, which can prevent or lessen scars.

7. Add honey to petroleum jelly for an effective and inexpensive lip balm. Honey helps hold moisture in.

8. Honey has also been proven to reduce gastric acid and is an effective treatment for heartburn and gastric ulcers. Just eat a teaspoonful whenever you have heartburn.

9. Honey will relieve the heat of a sunburn.

10. rub fruit stains with honey before placing in the wash, they'll come out.

I was just searching for an answer, these answers helped, except that I have the honey in a plastic container from the store, and I'm afraid to microwave it. So I GUESS I'll put it in a pan of warm water and hope it softens. Otherwise, I'll have to cut the container and scoop out the honey and put it in a better microwaveable container since I don't collect glass jars. Amazing about honey!
