In your opinion.

I see people doing this and all I can do is shake my head and keep myself from running up to them and knocking them upside the head like they just did to the dog and see how the like it.

Why do people think that this is an effective way to train? In my opinion all it does is make a fearful dog that will most likely end up mauling someone one day due to that fear.

I have had a personal experience with a dog "trained" that way and it landed me in the hospital for a week. I doubt it would have been as bad if I wasn't only 4, but still.

I think it's wrong in any type of situation, unless of course, the dog is trying to rip your throat out.

Dogs respond much, much, much better to positive reinforcement rather than pain. Just my opinion. Possibly fact.

People who abuses animals (dogs) are evil and have no regards for life, neither human nor animals. Look carefully, these are the same people who abuses babies, children and older folks. They are cowards who can only prey on who \ what they consider "weak".

I have no idea, I don't understand it at all. I have seen in some cases a trainer use the leash when the dog has had aggression that escalated into a dangerous situation, because then the dog will not be hand shy. Once a dog is scared of hands, it is very difficult to get that out of their head.

Well sometimes it is a training method, are you aposed to choker chains as well. If you go up and hit this person they will lose control of the dog which will then maul you.
Animal abuse is wrong but how would you suggest training them. now don't bite that person perty please.

Yes dogs respond to to positive rewards, better or worse just differently.

Obesity training at a young age is the best way to train a dog to do whatever it is that you want them to do. Dogs want to please their owners but dogs are "dumb" animals so to speak. I agree with you about people who neglect and/or abuse their animals. To tell you the truth I think they should be shot.

My only suggestion to you about abusive so called "training" for any animal is - if you see someone physically abusing their dog you should report them to Animal Cruelty. There are Animal Cruelty shelters in almost every county. I actually hate people like that. Those people can also be cited for abusive or neglectful treatment of any animal. We need more people to be aware and active toward abusive treatment toward animals and children.

People tend to think what they are taught. It is never OK to hit an animal. Take corrective action, yes...redirect, yes....change focus, yes. But never just hit.

People who do that are either just abusing the animals the way they themselves were abused, or they are truely ignorant. I don't know of anyone that would say it is OK to hit an animal.

It is one thing to tap your dog's nose for sniffing on the table and another to out right spank your dog. The consequences of spanking your dog can be very severe and people don't realize this. Hip displacia is one of the consequences that is irreversable. Think twice people!!!

Call the Humane Society in any abuse to animals you see. You don't have to give your name, but you might save an animals life.
