Why don't people who don't beleive, well, don't beleive? The theories of evolution and the big bang CANNOT be proven! Scientists have their 5 year old text books and we have our 2000 year old Bible! Can scientists explain how so many religions, who are based on an Almighty Creator, exist so far from each other? Why is it that our galaxy was made just perfect enough to survive? Why is our world made so perfectly as to not burn or freeze? I just can't beleive that science is right, especially the fact that I, having such a distinct conscience, will just go POOF! And completely disappear when I die. It just isn't probable. So, Atheists and scientists, explain with the best of your ability why ALL of these things have science to defend it. Thanks.

Also, if you can't prove what you're saying, like "Science is right. Religion is wrong." Then don't say anything. And yes, I have a 2000 year old book. That is my proof.

A teacher at my church once told us that he can contradict the "Big Bang" theory by stating that nothing beautiful ever, ever comes from an explosion.

He said for example, look at a building that has been blown up...nothing but destruction. Now the idea that life can originate from that is obsurd. Good question.

The universe we find around us is exactly the universe we would predict if there were no creator. A created universe and an uncreated universe would both appear very different, and from the evidence and data collect, ours would appear to be the latter.

If only more people could take the view:
"This means that, in the Buddhist investigation of reality, at least in principle, empirical evidence should triumph over scriptural authority, no matter how deeply venerated a scripture may be. Even in the case of knowledge derived through reason or inference, its validity must derive ultimately from some observed facts of experience. Because of this methodological standpoint, I have often remarked to my Buddhist colleagues that the empirically verified insights of modern cosmology and astronomy must compel us now to modify, or in some cases reject, many aspects of traditional cosmology as found in ancient Buddhist texts."

OK. For example scientists can clone animals and live things. In the Bible, its says that God is the only person than create life. Also, there are countless relgions in the world and why don't they belive in Christianity or whatever. In addition, we have invented new technology that can help us suchas radioactive dating and carbon dating to prove things. Also, if the Bible is true, then why did it contains tons of mistakes. The Bible also said that pathetic demons are real and that werewolves exist. For example, the pope said that the earth is flat!!! What kind of nonsense is that. In addition, fossils and ancient artifacts allow us to prove that evolution is true. Search for the ancestors of whales and you can find that whales use to be like four-legged animals.

I don't ask you to explain why you believe and I don't feel the need to explain or defend my lack of beliefs.
I have read the bible, have you ever read a science book,,,not a text book, an actual science book.

The bible is a heavily edited collection of stories from 300 AD...it'll be 2,000 years old in 300 years

Because science attempts to explain things based upon empirical evidence. There is simply no evidence of any "creator".

Science looks at the evidence and trys to determine what happened. Religion determines a story, and searches for ways to back it up. There's a big difference...

If you think science knows nothing, how do you explain you reading this?

The scientific evidence is altered as new data comes in by independent sources. The bible on the other hand, just keeps getting reinterpreted and rewritten.

"In the beginning there was an empty darkness. The only thing in this void was Nyx, a bird with black wings. With the wind she laid a golden egg, and for ages she sat upon this egg. Finally life began to stir in the egg and out of it rose Eros, the god of love. One half of the shell rose into the air and became the sky and the other became the Earth. Eros named the sky Uranus and the Earth he named Gaia. Then Eros made them fall in love."

There was a time when intelligent men and women believed this. We don't now. Do you? Those of us who seek answers in the reality of the universe by using the scientific method look upon you, and those like you who believe in your ancient myths, with the same mixture of pity and astonishment with which we look at the ancient Greeks.

People want something to explain the unexplainable. Your bible is no more "right" than science or atheists. It's your faith, that's all.

I don't believe in your religion because I find too much of the Bible to be man made and too much hypocrisy by its practitioners. I do, however, respect everyone's right to chose the faith of their chosing. I expect the same respect for my beliefs. That's called simple human decency and appreciation for the differences between my fellow humans.

Peace.

You're wrong. You believe what you want to believe. That you will just "poof" when you die is actually quite probable, but you don't want to accept it. Instead you want to believe that you'll go to some happy place when you die and live forever and ever.

cult myths, like christianity, are all unprovable.

you can lash out at scientists all you like (except those hird by the religious, who painfully try to find proof of their cult using science...) if you're angry with science for continually showing that your myth is false, then i suggest you review your commitment to your cult. don't bash science for doing it's job, jsut because one side effect of intelligence is showing how silly the cult-myths on earth happen to be.
