2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
it means when you dont have your own strength and you want to give up (you hit rock bottom) Jesus will be your strength. i know from personal experience this verse is true

Sometimes I feel like I am not giving God enough. I feel like my service to Him is not “spectacular” in comparison to others. I have to remember that God is not expecting me to be like others, but do what I can to the best of my ability. When I am faced with trouble, I pray to him for the strength to make it through. It reminds me where the Bible speaks of the Apostle Paul and his "thorn in the flesh" that he repeatedly asked God to remove. At 2 Corinthians 12:9 God replied "My underserved kindness is sufficient for you; for my power is being made perfect in weakness." That is why Paul could say in verse 10 of that chapter "Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in cases of need, in persecutions and difficulties for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am powerful." He realized that Jehovah God was not abandoning him, but he lovingly supplied Paul with the strength to cope with his situation. His “thorn in the flesh” became like an object lesson. It taught him to rely on the strength of Jehovah, not his own. So if illness, old age or any problem for that matter hinders us from accomplishing as much as we would like in our Christian activity, we shouldn’t despair. Rather than viewing our trial as a limitation in our service to God, we can look at it as an opportunity to increase our reliance on him.

When we give up control of our lives, and allow God to work through us, we can do great things. But when we hold on for dear life, and do everything in our own power, we can do little of nothing. When we fade away, God becomes more and more. It's a choice.
Pride is the root of all sin, because when we stubbornly refuse to give up control to God, because of our looks, our education, our money, whatever, God doesn't have the opportunity to do anything through us. God is a gentleman, and will do nothing without our consent in our lives. He gives us that great dignity.

When you realize your weakness in the flesh and ask for God's strength to do His will....then you are strong. "My strength (God's strength) is made perfect in weakness." (our weakness)

when you are weak you tend to rely on the Lord. And, since God is the ultimate source of strength, you are then strong in him

That I am only strong when I am trusting on Christ and not my own abilities.
