When we first got her, we took her to the vet, and they said they gave her a tiny bit of that Advantage stuff, because she's so young. Anyone else have any other ideas? No bath's, we did that once, and that was enough. Thanx!

If she is 10 weeks old she is old enough for Advantage or Frontline. Go to the vet and purchase one or the other.

The Advantage should be doing the trick, but at 10 weeks old they are old enough for a full dose. I had fleas on my kitten too and the advantage was the only thing that worked for her. They also make a flea powder, safe for kittens. You know if you are having a flea problem with your cat, this means you have them in your home and your home may need to be treated. I had to treat my home because of the kitten, even though I only found a few on her, my home was still infested, for every one adult flea you see, they lay up to 600 eggs. Check this out:

You should get more advantage or frontline from your vet. wash all the bedding in your house. Throw a flea collar in your vacuum bag before you vacuum the carpets. That will kill the fleas in the bag, but just to be safe throw the bag out anyway after a few days (vacuum daily!!).

Do not try the garlic. Cats can't handle garlic like dogs too, especially a 10 week old kitten. You are just asknig for additonal trouble if you go that route. Don't change her diet.

I got my kitten at 6 weeks old...he was completely covered in fleas, I gave him bath after bath with flea shampoo there would always be a flea or 2 that just wouldn't die. So I got some advantage for him, I only put a drop on him since he was so small. I also had to get flea spray for the carpet...they went away in a couple days after that.

Here is the best thing go to the vet and get the Frontline spray treatment. I am going to give you the info right off of the bottle (I keep a good supply at home) :

Provides effective flea, tick, and chewing lice control for adult dogs and cats and for puppies and kittens 8 weeks of age or older.

So she is old enough for it. I like it because you have control of how much they get and where to put it on them. Its 1 to 2 pumps per pound, so no risk of overdose unless you spray way to much on them. It is a little expensive, but really works. There are two sizes I get the large for my two dogs and it runs almost 40.00, but the bottle lasts me for a long time, because the flea treatment is good for 3 months with baths (using compatible shampoos). The stuff you get at the store can be dangerous because they usually say age and not weight. If the cat is under weight for some of it it could kill her. My mom lost some kittens to store brand. Well worth the money. Good luck

I'd get some Frontline this is safe for your 10 week old kitten. You can buy sprays or in the form of capsules containing an amount that you just dab on the back of her neck.

Stronghold is also safe for kittens from six weeks of age. This is dabbed on the back of the neck (where they can't reach it to groom it off)

Stronghold, in addition to treating & preventing flea infestation by killing adult fleas, larvae & eggs; also helps treat flea allergy dermatitis, treats roundworm, heartworm disease, ear mites, biting lice & intestinal hookworms. Lovely! Just copied all that off the back of the packet that I have here.

I'd also think about washing her bedding, hoovering everywhere (disposing of the contents of the hoover bag immediately) & spraying the house with something like Nuvan Staykill. Unfortunately, fleas breed in your carpets & soft furnishings after dropping off your animal, so sometimes it's better to go a little over the top & stamp out the little blighters before it becomes a bigger problem.

Good luck

the dawn is a good idea. also put some flea powder in places your kitten cannot go this will help get rid of the ones in the house. also use a flea comb to get rid of eggs and and live ones after the bath.

Use the Advantage and a flea comb. Make sure her bedding is treated as well. You have to repeat and be consistant or the eggs will keep hatching and the fleas will persist.

I have a kitten. He is a ally cat. He did not have fleas, but I know how to get rid of them. If you go to your vet thay have this gel and you put it on the fur and it takes about two days till there dead and you pick them out.

Feed her a little fresh garlic disguised in a ball of liverworst. Do this every day for a week, then cut down to once a week. The garlic gets in her bloodstream and the fleas don't like the taste of it. I do this with my pets and they have NO FLEAS.
