I have social anxiety myself and I know how it feels like. It's really hard for me to deal with it but the way I deal with it that is that I know it's not a life-or-death situation. People in third world countries have worse things to deal with than my social anxiety. I also think to myself that social anxiety can ruin your life and you only live once so that gives me great incentive to conquer my social anxiety. However, I still have social anxiety but it's not as bad.

If you at one point are able to get medication for this, I would recommend an SNRI, which works both as an anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medication. I suffer from severe social anxieties, and before I was placed on medication I had difficulty feeling comfortable in highly social environments.

If you are fully unable to get counsling or medication, I would recommend keeping a journal. Every night you could write what had caused anxiety throughout the day and be able to identify patterns and analyze them.

Good luck!

I'm sorry you have SAD - I know it makes life very tough to deal with.

The good news is that it is very treatable through meds and psychotherapy. If you're strapped for cash, you can visit your local state Mental Health agency and they will provide you with a Government Subsidized HMO and you'll be able to get treatment accordingly.

I've found that the easiest way to find contact info for these offices is to do a google search; type in " department of mental health" and give those guys a call.

I know it's tough, but don't be afraid to do it. Once you do, you'll be on the road to recovery.

Good luck and I hope you get better soon!
