no Jehovahs witnesses think that, or at least they used to... there are 144000 jewish people, 12000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel to go out and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
(which is really cool that you brought this up because one whole tribe just migrated from where they were at in India, hiding out, back to Israel. Awesome!! prophecy being fulfilled...)

For those that just studied the book of Revelation

Why didn't you notice that the tribes listed at Revelation is different from the 12 tribe nation

and is also different from the 12 sons of Jacob?

Rev. 5: 9 & 10 say those bought with Jesus blood become Kings and Priest to Jesus' God.

To rule over the earth.

Peter tells us that the Christian Congregation be comes a holy nation, a royal priesthood. Not the nation of Israel.

Those who go to heaven reign with Christ.

Some have said that the number is symbolic, but the answer is indicated by the fact that after mention of the definite number 144,000, Revelation 7:9 refers to "a great crowd, which no man was able to number." If the number 144,000 were not literal it would lack meaning as a contrast to the "great crowd." Viewing the number as literal agrees with Jesus' statement at Matthew 22:14 regarding the Kingdom of the heavens: "There are many invited, but few chosen." The Bible does describe the "great crowd" as "standing before the throne and before the Lamb", but this indicates, not their ascension to heaven, but that they are simply "in sight" of God.

godsgurl8 and arstone have it right. And also, those who say that that is a JW cult idea - how stupid could one be to think that only 144,000 out of the entire creation from Adam til the end would make it!? The Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes has better odds if you only entered one time during a lifespan! Get yourself a King James bible and don't listen to ANYTHING the JWs tell you. God bless you for asking.

no thats not true, the 144, 000 are the witnesses during the tribulation who are from the 12 tribes of israel who are sealed by God and go out to all the earth to spread the gospel. There will be a multitude which no man can number who will make it into heaven!

I seriously doubt that. Otherwise there would be exactly that many heaven-believers out there. And if you're talking about Heaven as in Christianity, (sorry if you aren't) then only 20% of the world is going to heaven. Kind of harsh, isn't it?

Read Revelation Chapter 14 , if you have a version of the bible like the Amplified it will explain it better.

Godsgurl8 has the first correct answer. I was going to say the same thing, because we were just discussing this very subject in my Bible Prophecy class Sunday morning.
