Haha!! Sorry, I forgot to mention my kittens are perfectly litter box trained. I want to know if I can train them to use our toilet though! How likely is it that it will work?

I'd agree with your other answers - the majority of kittens will know how to use a litter tray by the time that you adopt them.

Do you actually mean how do I train my kitten or cat to use a human toilet?

That link below has a video ... tee hee. And is for a site that sells something to help you to train your cat to use your loo.

The second link is to a site giving step by step instructions & doesn't actually want you to buy anything.

Have fun & enjoy sniggering over the photos.

6 months?!?!? Absolutely! Cats instinctively know to use a litter box - you have to simply put one close by and show them the box.

if the cat is NOT using the box, it is likely purposeful - or they were never shown a litter box from the get-go.

We have a dozen cats and nearly all of them were box-trained by 12-15 weeks.

If you have an adult cat that uses a box - take the kitten to the box while the adult is using it - this may help.

Now if you meant actually teaching the cat to use a human toilet, different problem...

Good luck!

L am assuming you mean litter box trained. Cats do not like to do their business just anywhere. If you supply them with a clean litter box every day, they will basiclly train themselves. however, you will probably have to take their little paws and show them how to cover it up. good luck. oh, next time, start them at 6 weeks.

Most cats use the litter box on their own and don't need to be trained. I don't know if that's what you were looking for exactly, but I've never had to train a cat.

Yes. Just put them in the litter box. Instinctively, they will prefer using a litter box ... just start them early.
