I just got a P0141 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2) trouble code reading on my 1997 Plymouth Neon. Does anyone know what this means?

Thanks

I just checked the gas cap. It looks OK. If I get the reading again I'll look into replacing it. Could it be anything else?

P0141 has nothing to do with the gas cap!

The "Bank 1 Sensor 2 Heater Circuit malfunction" means exactly that.

Bank 1 Sensor 1 would be the upstream O2 sensor.

Bank 1 sensor 2 is describing the downstream O2 sensor.

You more than likely have a bad DOWNSTREAM sensor heater, meaning - replace it! If a new sensor does not fix the problem, you may have a wiring issue somewhere. Most parts stores can help you obtain one, providing you give then the correct information.

If you are adventurous, all you need is a 7/8" or 21mm (I think) wrench and a jack, and you could probably even change it yourself.

"downstream heated oxygen sensor heater circuit fault -
bank no. 1 sensor 2"
This has nothing to do with fuel tank caps.
heater circuit fault has to do with the heater for the oxygen sensor.
and that is what it means

Yeah you should be fine. Plymouth is owned by Dodge, thus they use many, if not all, the same parts.
