I had the same problem with my civic. I just bought some nice padded seat covers and it felt 100% better. Hey, it was cheap and effective.

Well i bought a Honda Civic LX coupe, same engine and everything as the EX, yours will just have 6 disc cd changer, alloy wheels, trunk release on the key, and some other minor upgrades over mine. My opinion is that is a great car, it gets great gas mileage. In fact i've managed to get about 35mpg average on pretty much every tank i use. I do drive a lot of highway, i'd say my drive is 80% highway, 20% city. I didn't expect to get 35mpg out of it, i was expecting a little less, but hey is great! As far as longevity goes, nobody has really had one for that many miles, so we can't really tell you. But Honda makes very reliable cars, and mine hasn't had a problem. I'll definiately be able to take this one past 300,000 miles with no problem. Insurance wise, i didn't see that big of an increase. I mean with full coverage, my insurance went up about $900 a year over my old car. (which was a 1995 model) But that's expected since this is a brand new car, and i have a very high amount of coverage added on it. It's also registered for a young driver too, so that adds to the cost. You'll love it though, the only reason i bought the LX over the EX was because i was planning on changing out the rims anyways and upgrading the audio, so the alloy wheels and 6 disc cd changer that come with the EX wouldn't matter to me. So i figured....Why pay $1,500 more for an EX when those upgrades will be changed anyways?

Nothing like a good used Lincoln or Cadillac; or even a Grand Marquis, Crown Vic or Buick. You can rack up the miles in comfort and $20K-$25K buys a lot of gas, not to mention the money you save on insurance. You have to love those power, leather seats with the power lumbar support and the heat. Scrumptious!

Recaro makes an excellent after market seat that will adjust to your needs. If you spent $29k already another grand for good seats should be no problem. This car should last you for at least 150000 miles if treated right, You might as well be comfortable.

Sorry to break it to you, but I think you paid way too much for the car. But that's neither here or there.
As for your seating, I would read the manual.
Also you might want to move the seat forward in addition to just adjusting the up/down, back/forth knobs. Maybe you're too far from the steering wheel? The reach could cause some discomfort.

29k for a Civic? Is it gold-plated? :)
Try adjusting the lumbar setting in the seats. It's a twist knob located about halfway up the seats, and it controls where the support hits your back.

When the hell did Civics get so expensive?
I hope you got a man-servant with the Civic at that price.
You just need to get used to the seats. My Recaro's were killing my back and flat @ss of mine but once I got used to the seats, it was all good.

Buy a cushion designed for bad backs to strap to your seat. I have a bad back and the one I got worked great. A more expensive fix is to replace the seat with one that is more comfortable. You should be able to get this done for $500 to $1,000. If you have a bad back, do physical therapy to aid your back problem.

you paid 10 grand too much http://automobiles.honda.com/models/specifications_descriptions.asp?ModelName=Civic+Coupe&Category=EX
Boy have I found the seat for you!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Recaro-CSE-Car-Seat_W0QQitemZ180041043377QQihZ008QQcategoryZ33701QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Seriously it probably won't fit your Honda but if it does just put a cover over it! Recaro is the only aftermarket auto seat maker that I'm aware of
