I receive no funds form welfare but have always been on WIC, I get 2 gallons of milk, 4 containers of juice, 2 pkgs of cheese, and a thing of peanut butter or beans. I would guess about $20.00 per month. You don't have to be poor to get WIC, it also helps keep tabs on the growth of your child, after 2 years old, you stop having well baby checkups to chart growth at the doctors, but they continue to do it at WIC. It used to be WIC was for all income levels, now it is not offered to the people more well off financially. Every state is different though, I live in Arizona and am military.

a single parent may qualify for food stamps and even medicaid on adults and children if they are under a certain categories of wages, disability, etc. You may also qualify for state paid daycare while you work/go to school.

WIC usually provides milk, cheese, beans or peas, juice..I got 4 gallons of juice a month, 2 pounds of REAL cheese, 4 juices, 2 dozen eggs and a lot more. If the child is on formula, the state will provide all of that ..WIC is the best thing for single parents. However you can only get WIC from pregnancy to the child's 5 or 6 birthday (depending on your state)

You should also (based on income) qualify for government housing.

I don't frown on re-education grants and government vocational programs. They generate success and thus more money into the economy. Those people are using that money to better themselves, and working hard to do so. I ran a in a SPED program for a school district in Arizona linked with Vocational Rehabilitation, which basically got kids that obviously couldn't make it through college into training for jobs they'd both like and meet their abilities. However in AZ, the amount the state spends on welfare and ACHSS (health care) tripled between 1998 and 2004 because of illegals getting on the system. They don't pay taxes and often that money goes back to their families in Mexico, not producing anything for what they're receiving from the state. My neighbor used to brag that he was getting disability but yet had his mountain bike, boat and atv's. My friend and I were also approached at a 7-11 by a woman trying to sell her food stamps so she could have cash for meth.

Well, I know you get a bunch of groceries and some medical stuff. It really can be helpful if you need it! They will only provide things that are healthy for the baby.
