where do i start only have one parent name

ok.. for instance

Me... looking for dads side of family...

Dad is name.surname
His mum called... name.surname... (your gran)
His Dad called ... name.surname (your grandad)

then go on like this including brothers and sisters!!!then go on and on andd on until you cant find anymore...

Im doing mine ... both sides!!! mums and dads... got to 1724 on dads and 1802 of mums and still going wooooooohoooooooooo

I am not totally sure about this one, do you have a state to start in? do you have the whole name, the first and last name, and if they have a middle name? Do you have an birthday? I know this does not sound like some very useful answer but, have you thought about going to someone like the Maury show, I know it sounds a little silly but, I watch that show and I really believe that show does help family come together, if not you can always start right here on the Internet, you know with like one of those services like Lost and found. ask your parent about other half then try going on church of the latter day saint web site put in the details you know and see what it comes up with or try www.ancestry.com and use the family tree this could give you valuable information about older relatives

Ask your parent what his/her parents names, siblings, cousins, etc.
You can start building your family tree with the help of your parent(s).
