There are so many horror stories about adopted children being abused or worse, how can a person know who to trust for this.

The only way that you get to choose who adopts your child is to have an open adoption. This means that you go through an adoption agency, who will give you biographies on families for consideration, you choose a few you like, then you get to meet them. If you like one of the families, then you enter into a contract to surrender your baby at birth to the new family. You can set it up so that the new family sends you letters/photos as the child grows, or so that they never see you again. You get to choose how involved you want to be, but you have to put that all in your contract so that both parties (you and the people adopting the baby) know what is expected of them, and what the boundaries of your relationship are. Well honestly you never really know who to trust and who not to .Be careful and get referances and most of all make sure that adoption is the right choice for you and the child.You could contact the local heath department and get some information with different agencies.

Planned Parenthood can give you information about prenatal care and adoption and refer you to an organisation that can further help you through this difficult time and set up an adoption.

There are different agencies and if you don't feel comfortable about putting a child up for adoption then it's your choice on it there's always opened end adoption too.
