there are salt deposits many places in the world. plus
most minerals have a certain amount of salt in them.
these salts leach out when it rains and the runoff carries
it to the ocean. that is why bodies of water like the
great salt lake that do not have an outlet to carry off
the salinization become salty. even the fields that are
watered by irrigation are beginning to salinate. the
oceans are salty because there is no place else for it to
go.

75% of the salt in the ocean is actually from the sperm whale. Each whale can release at least 15 gallons of sperm to the ocean a day. Not counting the sperm that actually is used to mate.

the salt is from the erosion of rocks into rivers. the salt is easily put into solution and the heavier minerals sink once the flow is slowed (the ocean)
