Some people refer to "shooting a bird"/"flicking someone off" as "ZOMG TEH EEEEVIILS".What do YOU think?

I think it is the only truly honest communication that people still engage in.

It originated among the medieval French men-at-arms. Some French archers were captured by English knights and had their plucking finger cut off, so they couldn't use their bows. During battles, the French chided the English knights by raising their fingers showing that they still could use their bows, and yelled "pluck" you!. They also exposed their genitalia and rear ends and hurled severed head of their comrades at each other. Rmember the scene in Braveheart, the Scotsmen aimed their asses at the English...based on real moments in history. Medieval fighting was pretty barbaric back in the day.

Anyway, that's why you always hear people say "excuse my french" when they use the 'f' word, or raise their middle finger which was used to fire arrows at their enemy.

I think it takes evil people to make up evil gestures like that. Humans have sought way to express vulgarity in many ways. Why do we have swear words? Because we need something to express evil. and its wrong dead wrong.

i think it is a great way to tell someone how you feel...behind their back....while the rest of your co-worker watch.....
