Yes. If the organization you are fostering the dogs/cats/even horses, etc. is a certified 501c3 nonprofit group, then all foster care expenses are tax deductible.

Yeah, you would have to get a non-profit status for tax exemption. MAYBE you can write off all expenses related to fostering, like food,vet bills,supplies....if you keep good records and have an accountant to get you the right advice. You can only "donate" certain things and only so much can be written off.
And I think you have to itemize on your taxes.
