Cats can swim, but the problem is that it may be the temperature. Try warming up the water and see what they would do. I've done this before and the cat settled down a bit.

Wild cats swim across water, and I think domestic cats can swim also. I don't think they just plunge themselves into a pool to go swimming.

Yeah they can swim. Hey get this my husbands family used to think that if you got a cat wet they died. LOL I asked them what happend when it rained and the cat got wet. lol My cat used to love water we gave him baths and everything.

Yes cats instinctively know how to swim, they just don't like to.

my cat takes baths everyday and if i forget to give him one he jumps in the toilet he loves water and can swim so yes cats can swim

CATS are great swimers but house cats do't like to get their fur wet it removes their natural oils in the fur.
