Yes, for both the contacts and the tampon.
You don't have to die for them to be taken out--if you are in a trauma or a coma, your nurse will take them out.

Yeah, they have to for the embalming process. When you die, the undertaker takes out all your organs and fills you with embalming fluid. At the same time, they remove any prosthetic limbs, jewelry, or anything else the person may have died with. In fact, by the time the undertaker gets you, you're usually already naked from the morgue. If you get cremated, they'll take your contacts out too, but they don't have to necessarily.

Yes.
Unless the deceased will have a medical examiner's case (trauma, assault, child), all medical devices are removed (ETT, IV's, foley's), as well as jewelry and contact lenses.
"Eye care" is performed (placing saline in the eyes and placing gauze over the eyes). This keeps the eyes is good condition in case the patient will become an eye donor.

Wow. One of my favorite questions. I don't know. When I worked in a hospital and somebody died, we took off their glasses and all, but I don't think we'd have noticed if they had contacts in. As for the morgue, I don't know. Do they take the whole eye out?

Yes, they take out quite a bit actually! All your blood for starters!
They also give you a haircut, trim your nails and put cotton wool in your throat(prevents fluids from leaking out of your mouth), under your eye lids(stops then from opening) and many other things you probably dont want to know about...sorry!

at the Post Mortem the first thing done is to measure the length of the hair. The second is to take a tweezers to the eyes, lift the lids and check for lenses, then record the condition of the eye....shall i continue....?

thats a good question,
i would say yes because they would have to look at every part of the body to determine how they died, if they had any diseases and they might have been donors.
so i would say yes they would have to.

Yes, like it matters...why are people so fixated with what happens to their body after death?
Throw me out with the rubbish when I die...I'm not there anymore!
