Yea, I think there is a lot of truth to that. But don't get discouraged...remember, Jesus said...
10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Keep preaching the good news!

You are so right. I have noticed that too. In school they can't pray but they can pass out condoms and it might offend someone but thats ok. They can talk about different religions and it might offend someone but thats okay. But when it comes to Christians saying something and it offends someone well that just wrong. I heard an email yesterday that was read to me and it talked about the same thing. I am taking a stand and speaking my mind where ever I go. I am a Christian and if it offends someone well thats good. Maybe they need to be offended cause they aren't living the right life style. They need Jesus if they get offended. I'm not trying to be rude or mean. But I am getting sick and tired of Christians not having freedom of speech or anything else for that matter.

I don't think it's THAT they are Christians that's the problem, it's the SUBJECT they are talking about frequently. People tend to get preachy to others about an inherently undiscussible topic, unprovable, it's really quite a doomed thing to do and it's annoying to have someone pecking on your head about what they "believe". On the other hand, I think when non-Christians offend Christians, it's not from a deliberate harangue so much as maybe a thrown-in swear word - not intended to try and arm wrestle ideas into or out of their head.

I do hear of isolated incidents where it goes too far, particularly in a school setting. But you must realize that the reason it does is that Christians are always trying to push into compulsory indoctrination in the public schools with things like "intelligent design." That has led the other side to push back.

As representatives of Christ, we have a duty to God to make sure to reach as many people as possible with the Gospel. We have to make sure to have the Gospel correctly understood, then know our audience and how to most effectively communicate with it. "Form ever follows Function" is the rule of all mass communication. Sensitivity is what is key, here. Not who is offended and why. When non-Christians are offended by our language and the ideas behind the language, we must examine why and be willing to take a second look at whether we have the Gospel correct and then look at our communication style. This boils down to making sure to permit people to disagree with the non-essential ellements of our beliefs. We have to be as flexible as possible and communicate with them the essentials in their language, not ours.

Well, unfortunatly, that's how this nation is now. Which is truly disgusting and upsetting. The majority seem to never have freedom of speech generally because people feel freedom of speech was made for the minority.

I agree with you. When I look at this site, the questions, and the answers that are plain mean spirited, they come predominately from the atheists. There are a few holy extremists here, who are likely atheists posing as holy extremists.
Just a thought...too.

Christians can be quite offensive. And they continue to be because of freedom of speech. I am liberal and I support the right of Christians to be bigoted and offensive publically. I also support their right to publically make a$$es of themselves by pretending to be a persecuted minority when they don't know the meaning of the concept.

I think EVERYONE is allowed freedom of speech until someone disagrees with you, then we're all disallowed.
