If you are talking about how cops are never there when you need them and always there when you don't want them... yes, I agree. They all suck.

whats useless are all the legislatory limitations facing everyone, not just the police.
a recent survey showed that most adults would not intervene if they saw a bunch of teenagers causing trouble. this is not because they are scared of teenagers but scared they will be the ones who end up in front of a judge.
red tape and beaurocracy MUST GO. it is destroying this country. if punishments fitted crimes then crimes would decrease and if you dont think so, think about this: how willing would you be to go over the 30mph speed limit if you thought it would incur an instant £1000 fine and banned from driving for 6 months?
how willingly would you steal someones hand bag if you thought it would result in having your hands cut off and the word thief branded on your forehead?
fireworks only go on sale on november 3rd after 5pm and can only be bought by people who have applied for a licence to buy them.
i could go on.

I don't think they are useless, I think there are just not enough of them to combat the rising crime and out of control youngsters.

When I was a kid, we were frightened if we did something naughty and got told off by a policeman but these days the kids know that the police are limited in what they can do so they have no fear of them. Also, I think lazy parenting has a lot to do with it.

Wow; if THAT's your benchmark you need to take a valium.

The police in the UK do a very good job - despite what the media states. While I'm not saying that they're perfect - I still feel safe in my community.

They may also currently have better things to worry about than it being 21 minutes past 11 and little Johnny is setting off a few bangers. I'm assuming that you've called it in as well; rather than just blaming the police.....

Ok! You become a POLICE OFFICER!

If you want to blame anyone blame the B....Y Government !
The Police get the blame because its their job to enforce the law but people forget WHO makes the Laws!
Have you even bothered to CALL them!
I'd be blaming the PARENTS! What are kids doing out at this time of night anyway!

And to the one who said about the pensioner in an unroadworthy car think harder! CARS KILL! How would you feel if the same Pensioner Killed an Innocent Kid because He didn't see him because he had no lights or skidded because he had no tread on his tyres!!!

The truth is sadly if police dealt with these problems all the time where would they fit in serious crime? I think they do a good job most the time they are human beings at the end of the day and sometimes **** up

I agree that they are pretty much useless. Every time you need something they always say that they can't help you. My son had two bikes stolen out of our front yard and he's only nine and was upset about his bikes being gone so I called the police. He took a report and told me that it happens a lot in my area and that there was nothing he could do about it. HOW ABOUT A BIKE STEALING STING? Cops are good for two things in my area, harrassing people and passing out tickets.

do not call 911. get the non-emergency number. keep calling in and if they do not respond, contact the city manager or the mayor. if it still persists, get the help of your neighbors. go down and file an official complaint. then if it still goes on, sue them for disturbing the peace in small claims court!

you can sue if lack of sleep caused you to miss work, sent you to the doctor for nerves or exhaustion, any damage done to you personally.

but in my town. it took me and my next door neighbor-a pal with the city police-and a raid on the house where they had all night beer parties. bottles were strewn on both sides of my tiny street every sat and sunday morn. continual loud talking and car doors slamming from 2 am to 4 am.

finally they raided them. i could hear the police screaming for them to get on ground and to stay down, etc. those parties stopped.

also having a 6' tall retired fireman go talk to them doesn't hurt.

we had that motor bike racer thing too. that has passed. the motors are quieter now and loud ones are taken somewhere else!

loud radio boom-boxes have stopped.

i keep calling whenever my neighbors disturb me with self indulgent nonsense!

Yes, they are useless, but so are the parents of those kids. Plus this time of year there are always loads of fireworks going off, it';s the same every year.

The police have a really hard job... If you street has problems, think about how many other streets are the same.

The force is so thinly spread these days and its all full of beauocracy and paperwork.

Just give the police a ring (not 999) and report it.

The police are no good, they know that they are letting off bangers which are illegal and do nothing about it, is this what we pay are taxes for, so they can ride around in our cars that we pay for and stop of at the chinks for a feed and then go and harress some poor old people
