How do you make playdough?

PLAYDOUGH RECIPE

You will need:

1/2 cup salt
1 cup flour
1 tablespoon cream of tartar
1 tablespoon oil
1 cup water
food coloring
What to do:

Combine ingredients in a saucepan. Heat gently, stirring all the time. When the dough has a good consistency, take it off the heat and allow to cool.

Ok listen! I have always sworn to this recipe. It is the very best recipe for playdough...ever! I don't know if you've ever heard of Bev Bos. She was the early childhood education guru when I attended school. She put out the best recipe I have ever used and surprisingly not many people know of it. I have found that most playdough recipe's never turn out quite right. They are either too sticky or are lumpy with crystalizations. This recipe turns out just like the stuff you buy from the store and even smells like it! It'll last a good 2 weeks if you use it at least every other day.

The neat thing about it is that there are no measurements. So, it's hard to make a boo boo with the kids.

Ingredients:

flour
salt
liquid starch
water
food color

If you want to make it smell good add your choice of extract like vanilla, orange, or whatever.

Have the children take turns putting flour into the bowl
pour a generous amount of liquid starch, water, and lots of salt , add the food coloring until you get the color that you want into the bowl. Have them mix it with their fingers. until it is mixed really well. Take it out of the bowl and put it on a table. Let them knead the dough. Add flour a little at a time until it is no longer sticking to their fingers. When it starts to manipulate and feel like play dough and it is no longer sticky at all you can stop adding sugar and play with it!

Try it yourself first if you are worried about the ingredients not having measurements. The water makes it gooey. The liquid starch makes it stick together, the salt is for preservation, and the flour is the staple.

Try it and if you don't swear by it then I don't know what to tell ya! Good luck! BTW! Other teachers are always asking me how I make my playdough. They say it's just like the store bought playdough.
