Well I dont know what kind of apologetics perspective you are looking for on the Pentecost, but its a Roman Catholic holiday celebrating the day that the gift of the Holy Spirit was given to mankind and the Church.
The Apostles of Jesus were hanging out in a home, hiding from their persecutors, when suddenly flames started dancing upon all of their heads and they were filled with the power and wisdom of the spirit of God or the Holy Spirit. The Apostles, of course, are the first pope and priests of the Catholic Church, Catholics believe, and this gift of the Holy Spirit infuses the direction and wisdom of God into the Church. The Catholic Church is led now by the Holy Spirit so that its official doctrines and teachings are straight from the God Himself and 100% true.
This is what Catholics believe about the Pentecost, but as Im not sure exactly what you were asking, I hope this at least helps.

Pentecost was the day that the Holy Spirit came from heaven to dwell within man. Peter, and the disciples were in the upper room praying, when the sound of a mighty rushing wind came through. The result was cloven tongues of fire resting on them. This is the day that Peter changed from a coward, denying Christ, to a full fledged hell fire, and damnation evangelist. He began to preach to crowds of thousands, and thousands were saved. The whole objective of signs and wonders such as this was to convert the Jews. " The Jews seek a sign". The Gentiles were converted not by signs, but by knowledge. You see, they had not spent their life studying the Torah, or any of the Old Testament prophets. They had to be convinced through the scriptures (not that the Jews weren't). It is generally accepted that the Holy Spirit, with few exceptions, did not indwell believers before Pentecost, but "rested on them". ie, Elijah, Elisha, Samson, etc. The only noteworthy person mentioned that was filled with the Holy Spirit before Pentecost was John the Baptisit in his mother Elisabeth's womb. Pentecost took place 40 days after Jesus Christ's ascension to heaven.

According to the Book of Acts, the experience of the Pentecost was shared by all in the large crowd, causing confusion, and inspiring fear.
When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. [...] Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? [...] Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, "What does this mean?" Acts 2:6-12
Then (the Apostle) Peter standing with the eleven other apostles spoke to the crowd. He explained that these strange events had been predicted by the prophet Joel, and that Jesus's coming had been prophesied by David. Peter explained that these events confirmed David's prophesied exaltation of Jesus. Peter then exorted his listeners to turn to Christ. About three thousand responded to Peter's sermon.
Carpe diem!
