My dog's got the runs bad. I think it's a tummy bug because my other dog had it a couple days ago. A friend said he gave his dog pepto bismol but I don't know how safe that is for dogs since meds don't work the same on them. I don't want to wait until tomorrow to see the vet since my dog is miserable tonight. Help!

yes..pepto bismal it really works lol a friend of mine told me about it and I have 2 dogs and they kept passing it back a forth I would reccomnd taking the tablets of pepto bismal and wrapping it in some bread with a lil bit of peanut butter to hold the tablet and give it to your dog or dogs and also don't feed them their usual food honestly rice and meat help a lot not rice and meat dog food actually rice and meat I did rice and ground beef and that helped them in getting rid of the problem ..how often to give them these tablets try just one for the time being and I would feed them the rice and meat once a day to see how they do on it if the diarrhea still doesn't go away after 1 dose cont. for a few days up to 2 tablets a day if doesn't go away after that seek medical attn. hope this helps lots of love

The vet is only going to give antibiotics and perhaps an injection to paralyse the digestive system to give your dog a break. You just need to sit it out, I'm afraid; either stay up with him all night so you can let him out when he needs to go or put him in a room with a wipeable floor and put lots of newspaper down!
Dogs being dogs he may be fine in the morning. Meantime, give him access to water but no food. Just don't give him Pepto Bismol or any other human medicine.

A friend of mine dog was sick with diarrhea and her vet said to feed the dog the cooked rice to help. We humans can eat the BRAT diet for diarrhea... bananas, rice and toast.

try cooked rice with ground beef or try cottage cheese
whatever you do don't switch food brands on the dog food
