Well, a new religion was invented in the last century - spiritualism. It was basically an attempt to found a new religion based upon the findings of the psychic researchers.

Much of this research is impressive. But do we really need to try to make a religion out of it? Do people really need to meet once a week, to hear a lecture and sing some songs? Do people need to be told what to believe, instead of thinking for themselves?

I wish more people would be open-minded enough to read a few books on the evidence, and live their lives accordingly.

It would be a religion of self. The individual is the primary concern. There would be NO altruism or self sacrifice. It would not be needed. The basic premiss would be simple, does what I am doing or about to do infringe on another individual, entitiy or group. If the answer is no, proceed; if the answer is yes, proceed with caution or re-evaluate. Punishment would be allowable only for those who infringe on another and commensurate with the offense.

I would not include the whole savior aspect. This is a paradox that leads to nothing more than shattered expectations and incoherent guidance. This also leads to a severe lack of accountability. The whole 'I can sin today and repent tomorrow' bit simply escapism. You should be held accountable, even when you say sorry. If the offense occurs, then the restitution must be forthcoming.

Religion was developed as means of control. It is riddled with inconsistencies, lack of supporting evidence, and most importantly, a lack of applicable guidance to enable mankind to fulfill their destiny, growth. Growth is the one constant in the Universe but is vehemently discouraged in religious circles. This is clearly evident by religions deep and long lasting relationship with government. Growth is the preventer of Entropy. Growth and reaching for greater knowledge and understanding should be encouraged at any and all levels, regardless of what that increased wisdom reveals.

We live in an information age, when things are recorded by third parties, not by the winners. Our history is more likely to be told truthfully than that of previous generations. This unfettered access to information is the saving grace of humanity. It allows for mankind to forgoe their pre-disposition to a bicameral thinking process and evolve into a thinking entity capable of unlimited growth.

I would invent a religion that very loosly defines God as a force, physical or spiritual being, or really any entity at all. This being said, God could be A spirit living in some sort of heaven, a force living within us all, an alien, or even just the sun. I would preach traditional morals and values, but would say that God didn't necessarily invent us, he just invented life. He also invented evolution, and that is how life came to be what it is today. Therefore, science and religion would be able to happily co-exist.

Actually, I would use my existing belief system, which is not practiced by anyone else. My people would worship a force instead of a god. This force would be omnipresent, but not necessarily a being. It is the collective amount of the most basic energy in existence. The universe is just a manifestation of it. It would have a pantheistic view of this force and would encourage followers to think on their own. There would be no formal church reaching for your money, and you would owe loyalty to no one. The Force does not need to be babied and worshipped. It would encourage science, and any form of learning.

i think everything has been done before
but what i have always wished to do was ...
take all the parts from each religion , that make sense
the possitive teachings from each philosopher and prophet ..
and start a religion based on only those
so that everyone can be included .. and the focus would be on being better human beings and uniting together

It would be called Life Celebration.
We would meet in a park and discuss what we are thankful for that week.No donations would be taken . No books handed out .
Any "Miracles "would be done by us.
If a natural disaster would happen , we all would pitch in to help.
We would ask for donations and time to do our work.
The donations would be materials for rebuilding or food for the Victims -not us.
All would be documented on film and records ,for future generations to witness.
We would all be called to reveal our triumphs and happy deeds ,that we did or were done for us.
We would celebrate living ,loving and life .
We would teach respect for all and right from wrong .

I think we have enough religions without creating a new one. How about inventing a way to get existing religions to stop hating and persecuting other religions, instead?

Eccl 1:9 That which has been is that which shall be; and that which has been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

10 Is there a thing of which it may be said, "Behold, this is new?" It has been long ago, in the ages which were before us.

Keep the Laws of Yahweh.

I already have! It's a mix between atheism and shinto (Japanese religion)

I beleive that there is a race of beings that can influence our plane. However, 1. They don't know we exist, 2. If they did, they wouldn't care, 3. I owe allegience and loyalty to none.

Another one to add to the thousands already existing ?
The only true way is already established, 2006 years ago, and the foundation was laid for us to build on, so i would have to decline.
It was not invented either.
