Lets say after your 10 hour sleep, you get up to do something and tried to go back to sleep. Is that possible? Or is it physiologically impossilbe to do that. What I mean is, is there a point that your body says, "no if you get any more sleep you will die!" Or, could you possibly still go back to sleep eventhough its "bad" for you just like over eating is bad for you.

I think I have almost done it already. I don't know if I sleep quite 10 hours solid. I slept 6 hours on the plane coming back . Soon as I got settled in the car after the plane trip I slept at least 2 more hours. Soon as I got home I went to bed. It was about 4:00 pm.I sleep again till 8:00 am. The only reason I got up was because I set the alarm. It was Sunday and I went to church.
I slept again a couple hours in the afternoon and again in the evening 6 or 8 hours.
The only time I ever did any thing like that was when I was sick
and ran a fever. I would sleep like from one day into the next
except for water which I was made to drink, the bathroom
and maybe a little food now and then. I was known to sleep alot when I was a baby. Mother worried about me,but I quess the doctor said not to worry as long as I ate when I was suppose to.
I grew out of it and have been up at all hours although I like my sleep, 8 hours when possible.

There is no reason why a person could not sleep 15 hours and wake up, eat and go back to sleep. If you have a lifestyle that pays your bills and allows you to sleep as long as you want, go for it! However you may experience a loss of muscle tone if you sleep too long, like say, a week, your body uses the sleep time to heal itself, so if you have been feeling out of sorts, sleep is the best cure.

Oh I can totally go back to sleep after ten hours of sleeping. In fact, if I get more than 8 hours I feel even more tired and lethargic than usual. Maybe because I get so little sleep normally. Also, if it's raining outside or if I'm feeling extra depressed, I could sleep for days straight...just a few breaks to whiz and eat. I think some people are "bottomless" sleepers if they're feeling a certain way. I just never have time to try it out...drat.

i have gone back to sleep after 10 hours but its usually inconsistant sleep and i wake frequently. unless i'm sick then i can be out for a long time.

but you feel awful if you over sleep too and its not good for your muscles and you body, especially to go without water or food for a long time.

This really depends on your own sleep needs and practice. My sister takes 7 hour naps, then still sleeps all night.
