I'm on HZT (to lower BP) and on a supervised medical program. I've lost 25 lbs. in 9 weeks. (Hi portein, low carbs, etc.) I'm really dizzy and spacey. What can I do?

Be sure that you do not over stress yourself while working out (i have) and get adequate rest before resuming working out, this could be one cause of feeling dizzy. Another reason could be the HZT drug, be sure to check with the doctor what side effects may occur while being on the prescripted medicine. Due to your cold, you may also feel a lack of energy, and if you resume your regular workout with the cold, it seems that you are using more energy than your body really wants to; this may be another cause.

As a side note* for those who think that this problem is due to low blood pressure, please think again. Blood pressure is measured by how hard your heart must pump to get the blood flowing throughout the body. High blood pressure means high cholesterol; therefore your heart must work harder. Low blood pressure means that you are athletic and your heart does not need much pumping power to efficiently supply your body with blood.

You've lost too much weight too quickly. You're not getting the proper nutrition especially taking Blood Pressure medication. Talk to your doctor but you need to back off the weight loss. Also, if you've lost that much weight your medication may need to be adjusted to a lower dose but you need to talk to your doctor about that.

Have your blood sugar checked to start. Check your heart rate too! My hubby was taking pills for hbp and it slowed his heartrate so much he was goofy. Lack of oxygen will do it...-) Any good blood pressure monitor should also measure your heart rate. Ask your dr. to check it out--that's always the best to do.

Congratulation's on the weight loss. HBP is nothing to play with and since you are going in the right direction with the weight loss, you need to see your doctor immediately.

Call your Doctor. I wouldn't wait. If your doctor didn't mention to you that it may be a side affect of the drug he/she perscribed, then it can't be good.
