I'm pretty sure there is a hook up park, like KOA right in Placerville. check in Citrus Heights or Folsom before you get there.

There is a KOA camp in Shingle Springs, right along Highway 50 a few miles west of Placerville. Apple Hill will be about 10 miles east (up into the hills) from the RV park. The park is fairly nice with full hookups. This is my first recommendation for RV camping near Apple Hill - Camino/PP. Going farther uphill, the next opportunity is South Lake Tahoe, and Hope Valley.

If Sly Park was available, then it would be closest to AH/C/PP. However, the park is closed to overnight camping right now , and available for day use only, and only on weekends. The park is regulated by El Dorado Irrigation District. It is very pretty, but has no hookups.
Farther away is Folsom Lake, Rancho Seco, Jackson, and the State fair grounds (called Cal Expo - near the back stretch area of the horse track) Cal Expo has full hookups, and limits your stay to one week at a time.

My El Dorado NF tenting reviews have been off of path 88 (previous Jackson) and not Hwy 50 (previous Placerville) yet I think of this is comparable. The air's is dry up there and in July this is warm, even at night. great hiking in all places. The lakes and streams are very fresh (chilly). i do no longer understand somewhat understand with regard to the fishing, yet I continually see alot of boat fishing taking place up there. there is a few whitewater rafting up close to Placerville it somewhat is intense relatives relaxing, btw.
