I've read there are only 3 types of labs. Yellow ,Chocolate, and Black.
My chocolate lab had puppies and there were 7 chocolates and one "yellow"
The thing is the dog is completely snowy white with a pink nose. I thought maybe this meant she was albino but she has bright yellow eyes.
All the pictures in google when i type in yellow lab the dogs are a darker yellow and have a dark black nose.
So are there white labs or is mine some kind of albino?

I recently researched this on the net when I heard there were sometimes black and tan labs born to purebred parents. One of the sites with info is this one: http://www.oakhillkennel.com/library/color.html. It gives all the genetic info which contributes to coloring.

I did read somewhere that yes, an almost white coat is considered a yellow, and they may have pink nose. "In yellow Labradors, the nose can be black or pinkish (known as "snow nose")." Apparently the white nose is a disqualification from showing.

Hope this helps

This website has both White and Silver Labradors, plus breeding services. Until your question, I never knew there were silver and white labs. They are the cutest!

Enjoy your pups!

Can you post a pic?

PS: I went searching for albino dogs and really nothing comes up. I found this one website with albino animals and they all had pink noses. There is a chance you may have an albino. I also included a link for this website, written by an albino girl. Very interesting indeed.

Yellow Labs can be very pale as to appear white they can also have pink noses.

There really are no "white" Labs just pale yellows. There are also no "silver" Labs. These are just a mutation of chocolates. These colors are nothing more then advertising gimics and are products of irresponsible breedings.

If the dog is white but without pink eyes, it isn't albino but it does show a rare lack of pigmintation, considering also the nose, because this is not a normal trait of the Labrador breed. I am going to gues it is a rare deformation in genes, etc. which caused a lack of pigmintation, but I wouldn't say it was albinoism. Yello eyes are also not characteristic of the breed, at least not that I have heard of.

Sounds like just a very light yellow lab. I wanted to mention that there are silver labs. They are very rare, but definitely real.

My husband's uncle has owned 3 "White" labs over the years.

The AKC considers these yellow labs, "Yellow--Yellows may range in color from fox-red to light cream"
http://www.akc.org/breeds/labrador_retriever/index.cfm

Some breeders even try to purposely breed these lighter colored labs.

There are many nearly white Labs..It is just a diluted yellow, and should be called yellow on the papers...there are 2 keenels in my area that breed mostly this color, so I see a lot of them around town, including our pet supply shop owner.
Take a look at these> http://images.google.com/images?q=yellow+labrador&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&rls=GGGL,GGGL:2006-18,GGGL:en&start=18&sa=N&ndsp=18

Its a really light lab... if you see a lab that is NOT black, yellow, or Chocolate it is a not registerable dogs and therefore have some form of genetic defect.
