Heinz have been a market leader for years. My mother experimented with supermarket's own brands of beans, and they simply weren't as good. So when I left home all I bought was Heinz. Branston are new to the beans game, and I simply can't be bothered to try them when I know and love Heinz. If they were much cheaper I might be tempted to try them though. But I haven't even bothered to look at the price yet to see if they are cheaper.

I used to absolutely love Heinz beans but I think (and I wish someone would confirm this for me) that they have dumbed them down recently - so removed some of the salt and sugar. I think this is an absolute travesty!! The tin now says "low sugar" - if I wanted low bloody sugar beans I would buy the low sugar beans, you peasants!! I could get quite emotional about this....
So I have been buying Branston beans in protest, but they are very nice. Heinz have also gone back to their original ye olde stylie packaging which is a total crock of poo because they've completely changed the recipe.
However, I think your average supermarket shopper will buy whatever is on special offer - when you can get two packs of four cans of Heinz beans for £2 (which you can occasionally) they fly off the shelves (and into my trolley)!! xx

I've been eating Heinz beans for years and find them tasty but I also like Branston. If you want to know exactly what the difference then go to the supermarket and check both tins ingredients.
There isn't much difference in the beans between the two brands but there is in their Spaghetti. I prefer Heinz spaghetti.

Branston definitely, they are more tasty, Heinz are just a bland tomato sauce now, I think it's because they reduced the amount of sugar and salt a few years ago, two ingredients used to add taste to processed food. So yes I can tell the difference. Branston remind me of how beans used to taste when I was young ;)

Sorry, Heinz beans are the best. I have tried other beans, even the Branston ones but I always go back to the Heinz - you just can't beat them.

It is all down to individual taste, you like them or you don't.
However, there seems to be a certain amount of "brainwashing" by some manufacturers.
You get what you pay for they will say, ours may cost a bit more but they are better.
I would disagree with that, who is paying the cost of advertising and a brand name? The consumer of course.
I prefer own brand products from some supermarkets, as many times they can be top branded products sold in bulk, and marketed under a different label.
Shop around, try different labels, but at the end of they day, buy the one you enjoy most, regardless of the label on the tin.
