The engagement ring is bought first...then, after the engagement, the couple will go back to a jewelry store and choose matching wedding bands. The difference is the engagement ring, traditionally, has a stone or multiple stones on it. The wedding bands are just that, bands. Modern wedding bands can have stones around them or can be made out of almost any type of metal you can think of, including titanium...There are so many great choices!!

Sometimes both rings come in a set, and then you just give the girl the engagement ring part of the set, and then on your actual wedding day, you give her the other ring. Some people don't even have both types- I know a woman who just has an engagement ring. She just took it off on her wedding day and her husband put it back on her during the part in the ceremony where the rings are exchanged. Other people just have the plain wedding band but no engagement ring. It really all depends on how much money you're able to spend, what your fiancee prefers, and how comfortable she is with the feeling of two rings on one finger. I know some girls who don't like that. But like I said, there are sets out there with two rings that interlock into one. Here's an idea: lots of jewelry companies have a "loaner" ring- a fake diamond ring that the guy can borrow just for the whole kneeling-and-proposing thing- and then after she says yes, she can come into the store and pick out any ring set she chooses (in your price range.) Congrats!

Some people don't get engagement rings, but most do. So yes, the guy buys two rings.
When you ask her to marry her, you offer an engagement ring. When the two of you marry, you will exchange rings if you have a double-ring ceremony (which pretty much everyone has these days). So you will buy a wedding band, and she will buy you one.

yup she gets an engagement ring first and then she gets the wedding band. Usually the engagement ring is put first cause it has to be closer to the heart. You can just buy the wedding set all at once. you give her the ring then you just keep the band with you until the actual day at the wedding. I've seen that the whole wedding set is cheaper than just a single engagement ring.

Traditionally, the man bought an engagement ring that was given to the girl as he proposed (and if she accepted) then the wedding rings (one for the groom purchased by the bride, and one for the bride purchased by the groom) were purchased at a later date closer to the wedding date.
In this day and age though some women choose not to have an engagement ring or they go with their fiance's after the proposal to choose a ring. Others choose not to go with the "traditional" diamond. You might be surprised by the less expensive pieces that are chosen.
You do not HAVE to buy ANY rings at all if you dont want to. Rings are a symbol thats origin rests in tradition.

Yeah the engagement ring then the wedding ring. Yeah you do buy two rings. When you get the engagement you then buy a wedding band so you can wear them together.

I guess it depends on the couple too. I didn't ask for wedding ring and only used my engagement ring for my wedding, so did he. My friend had two rings: engagement and wedding, while my sister in law only wear wedding ring because her engagement symbol was a necklace. Another person at work didn't wear ring at all, because all that matters is that she got married and the certificate says so :):)

A lot of times you can find a wedding set. It comes with the engagement ring and the wedding band. You just put up the wedding band until the wedding date. The engagement ring is to signify your commitment to her and that she is going to be married. The wedding band is the bond, never ending circle that symbolizes your love for one another.

They usually come in sets. You give the girl the engagement ring when you propose and the wedding ring during the marriage ceremony. Yes, you have to buy both.

The girl has to buy a ring too. Unfortunately, it's usually just a simple gold band that cost her less than $200, while the guy is stuck buying a rock and a half that will put him in hock for the next three years.
