The reason Christians beleive that Jesus is more than a prophet is because Jesus is the flesh of prophecy. He not only fulfilled the law and lived without sin enabling Him to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins, redeeming each of us to God that we might have a personal relationship with Him. He also fulfilled all of the prophecies of a coming messiah. There are around 109 of them in the old testament. In my opinion this makes Jesus more than a prophet. Since He has risen from the dead and is alive and well today , it is possible for you to ask Him personally. Are you willing to humble yourself to HIm and learn His perspective?

I don't believe Jesus was anything more than a prophet. But I'm not Christian so maybe I shouldn't be answering this question.

The prophets of old gave the prophecy that a Savior would be born of a virgin, die and raise again in three days. None of them died and were raised again.

Jesus was the Lamb that came as the ultimate sacrifice for mans sins. He was born of a Virgin, and at about age 30, began to teach and preach.

As most people know, he was tried, convicted, and died on the cross at Calvary. Three days later, the grave was empty and he was risen and seen by many of the people he preached too.

So, you compare apples to oranges. Prophets give visions or tell of future events. Jesus fulfilled the prophecies told hundreds of years before his birth.

No other religious Deity in recorded history has ever had people tell of his coming hundreds of years before he arrived, tell how he would live and die, and that he would live again. No other Deity has ever died and arose from the grave either. Not Allah, Buddha, Confucius or any other one you can name.

The prophets prophesied about Jesus (Messiah) coming.

With all mankind falling short of God's glory, only God Himself could be the worthy sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin.

Because the prophets of the O.T. were announcing his coming. He fullfilled prophecy and there for is not a prophet but the Son of God. I have scripture to back this up if you'd like.

because He is prophesied in Isaiah, throughout the entire book, as the messiah. chapter 6 thru 9 tells you about His divine birth, chapter 52 tells you about His ministry and resurrection. Please read Isaiah!!! It is clear who Jesus is, just by reading the prophecy!!
