Dear gousa,

I would recommend that you avoid your brother unless you are required to watch him by your parents. Your brother will learn to cover his mouth eventually but he is still young--have patience. Perhaps you could get some cough drops if you are beginning to cough or get a scratchy throat. Remember, bacteria and viruses are everywhere--part of God's creation.

He's three, so you have to make it fun or he won't do it. The show Barney (I know, I really hate that show too lol) had a good one where they had kids do silly coughs, then had them show everyone the right way to do it. Try that "game" with him, and remind him every time of the right way to cough.

uhmm....learning is something that happens over time. REMIND REMIND REMIND! My husband used to pop my our sons hand every time he forgot (cause it seemed he forgot all the time). When that didnt work he sat in time out every time he 'forgot'. Worked like a charm because you cough a lot if your sick....well he sat in time out a lot!

And your mom dont like you to stay in your room??? So the YOUR ROOM part dont matter. And hasnt she ever heard of time to yourself? I have a 14 year old daughter and if she wants to spend time in her room...by all means she has that right. Sounds like to me its your Mom who has the problem. She wont make sure your brother covers his mouth when he coughs and you cant be in your room. Can we say......CONTROL PROBLEMS? She is focusing on the wrong situations.

just remember that he's a toodler at this age, they can't catch on quickly but will learn if u discipline him in a well mannered way and he might get it. tell the reasons why to cover your mouth when u cough.

Ask your mother to take you and your brother to a doctor. Maybe she can also go to the drug store and buy some medicine. If your mother will not take you and your brother to the doctor and will not give you medicine tell a teacher or another adult you trust. It is her responsiblity to make sure she takes care of you!!

gently remind him to cover his mouth, if he's three, he's still learning...be sure you do the same....monkey see, monkey do.....
