No, Many now have the Word of God in their own hands and language which the Pope would never have allowed.

Absolutely not. After hundreds of years of having the Scriptures locked behind closed doors and accessible only to priests, Luther started the revolution that brought faith to the "common man".

Another important contribution by Martin Luther was that he singlehandedly enabled the "man on the street" to realize that he didn't need to go to a "priest" in order to have a relationship with God. Martin Luther brought God's accessibility back to the people where they could touch God simply by reaching out to Him.

P.S. Don't forget to use "spell check". Heresy is not spelled "heracy".

No, although the Papacy disagreed with a lot of what Luther taught they still admitted the Church needed reform. It was a very corrupt time in Christian History. Many Catholics wanted Luthers head but it was, I believe, only by the providence of Almighty God that Luther was allowed to live.

The Pope lacks the authority to condemn a man to death.
Excommunication is the utmost for Catholics. But check with the Jesuits to be sure.
