DO NOT PUT IT IN THE TRASH. An old TV, especially a CRT type has toxic components. In many areas it is illegal to improperly dispose of CRTs. Call your city offices and find out what their regulations are. Many cities have recycling and disposal centers for CRTs and other electronic equipment. If your city has a regulation against CRT disposal in the trash, the trash collector is likely to report it if he finds a TV in your trash.

Besides what's already been mentioned, perhaps there is a local TV repair shop that may be willing to take in your old TV for parts.

Take it to a small tv repair shop. They would probably take it and resell it if it's repairable.
