I went late December and weather was perfect, can't remember if this just before or after the rainy season. Sorry it's been a few years ago now. Depends what you after, as you probally know they have the full moon parties on Phangan, but we caught a boat to a beach called "Bottle beach" you can only get there by boat but it was idyllic, highly recommenened, only about 20 or so beach huts and 1 restaurant/bar. Thats if you just wanna chill maybe go for the day, we stayed for about a week and just rreturned to Phangan centre to get supplies. This is all about 8 years ago now so things may have changed. Would love to hear what you think, brings back memories just writing this.
Go easy on the Sangtip and Mekon (thai Whisky) tastes good and easy to drink but a bit lethal, sure its a bit hallucinagenic otherwise i'd been spiked. Have a great time anyway.

Just the right time to be there in December as there is no rain and you can enjoy yourself with scuba diving or fishing. Apart of that Phuket and Koh Samui which are located in the same southern part of thailand and not very far away from each other also nice to visit.

koh phangan is the best island of all, not spoilt at all, un like samui. end of the rainy season but may have some rain but that dont matter on phangan its a beautiful island. find the amstardam bar on the west side just out of tong-sala(spelt amstArdam) the view is breath taking 300ft up a mountain. FABULOUS!

We were in Koh Samui in early February, it was hot then, damn hot !
Don't let the clouds fool you, cover up my friend.
Koh Samui is a beautiful island, loads to do, great beaches, people and food. Good nightlife too. Bangkok is great for a few nights, Nana Plaza, the Grand Palace and a meal on a junk at night are good trips.

Actually, it is the dry season from November onwards! You will miss most, if not all, of the rain. In fact, the rainy season is actually the hottest season, but it is so ridiculously hot that you would struggle to go outside. While you're there, It will be very hot the whole time, but manageable, you'll be wanting air conditioning - trust me! There will be a lot of sunshine. I'm sure you'll have a great time! :)

Weather delightful, cool, breezy. Little chance of rain. Where to go depends on what you want to do, Thailand has it all.
