If gays pay taxes and contribute as much to society as anyone else, why shouldn't they too get the same legal advantages of a heterosexual couple?

I don't understand why so many Christians in the US are so obsessed with other people's sex life that they need to pass laws banning gay marriage. It's a friggin' legal contract for golly's sake! Keep the religious part in your church and don't allow gay weddings in your church if that's your religious belief.

More importantly, why can't you just let God make his own decision about it when everyone dies?

ctgirl206 - Your analogy makes no sense. Homosexuality has nothing to do with terrorism and terrorism has nothing to do with love. Duh.

It wasn't until gays started coming out of the closet that it became unacceptable to kill us. Maybe if you granted us full legal status, we'd stop the demonstrations. Besides, it's your straight media that controls the media, not us!

It's called self-righteousness and it's a character defect that's particularly common amongst Christians.

It falls into the category of their percieved moral superiority. Despite what they say, christians love the exclusivity of their little God-fearing country club. As is often the case with these religious types, they like to impose their ideas on society. They don't agree with homosexual behavior, so they feel they can prop themselves up, by pushing homo's down. Ever notice how anyone who doesn't think the way they do are automaticly on the road to hell? Well, they actually LIKE it that way. They WANT to be the only ones going to their imaginary heaven. It makes them feel superior. Thats why they preach and talk down to non-believers....not to convert them, but to make themselves feel good by claiming they are better than everyone else. Gay marriage is the same thing. They want their hetero-marriages, divorces, and infidelities to still be above the level of something, anything...that thing is Gay Marriage.

there is this "i'm extra constructive than you" adrenaline rush that each and every man or woman receives by technique of feeling more advantageous. in basic terms leaf by ability of historic previous. what number of human beings were oppressed, or worse, in the call of Christianity, in basic terms to be appeared at many years later in disbelief (or denial)? Lutherans, Muslims, "heretics", blacks, Jews, females, and now gays. it is in basic terms the hot rendition. This no longer something new, only a sparkling purpose. And after the conflict with gays is lost, they are going to flow on to three different team to purpose. it would want to take a lengthy time period, notwithstanding this is going to bypass. yet do not melancholy, Christians, there are countless different communities you are able to choose and oppress - all isn't lost.

It's more of the traditional Christians who feel the way that you have just described. They don't understand homosexuals, so they do what they do with everything they don't understand, condemn it.

I am a straight Christian myself and I have no problem with gay marriage. If I had time to worry about what other people were doing, maybe I should use it for some self-improvement...especially since orgy attending is not well received in my religion. :)

Well the Jesus said that many false prophets will come.
There are those who follow Jesus and work on there own sin help others. They do what Jesus tells them to do its not easy.

Then there are the False prophets who point there fingers at the sins of others from the pulpit. Tell there flocks to judge others from the pulpit and get people High on the power and the false pride that comes from feeling smugly superior to others. Its all worship of EGO and pride Jealousy and greed. None of it is worship of God.
SO not all Christians think the way you think they think. Just the ones who are shouting out and getting the press because there not working on the Logs in there own eyes.
People who quietly and humbly try to improve themselves DON'T GET PRESS>
So God will judge

we aren't obsessed. one of the books in the old testimate states that a marrige should be between a man and a woman. its not that we don't want the same lagal advantages for homosexuals its just that we shouldn't have to make amendments for them because under God's rule there shoulnd't be homosexuals. also a lot of people assume that we judge gay people before we meet them or whatever. we aren't saying that there is anything wrong withs gays except that they are gay.

You know, if gays didn't make it a habit of calling a news conference every time (pardon the hyperbole) one 'came out of the closet', perhaps the perceived backlash against gays would never have evolved.

Why does the public-at-large need to know the sexual orientation of anyone? Why do we need 'gay pride' parades, special legislation protecting 'gay rights', etc. etc etc.

Perhaps, just perhaps, if homosexuals kept their proclivities private instead of making sure everyone knows, then we'd all get along a whole lot better.

It's the 'in your face' attitude of many gays that's the problem.

Because it's twisting christians' belief on a christian-established nation. It's like badmouthing muslim in a muslim country. And what religious poeple do is to defend and spread their belief while saving others from sins as God's mission for them.

Part of the pull of Christianity (and other egocentric religions for that matter) is the bullyish aspect of it. Like a favorite quote of mine goes ....

"I know you are Christian, but what are you Christian against?"

I think Christians are just trying to do there part in the world. no one wants to see the world go to terrorism. in christian's eyes, terrorism is just as much a sin as gay marriages. so ask yourself, why are people over in iraq risking their lives to stop terrorism that might not even affect them?
