I am approaching my 30s, so I have been out on my own for sometime now. I have ALL the basic stuff, food processer, blender, toaster which all in new to good condition and I buy very good brands- so I don't even want to upgrade. I registered for formal china and stemware but I don't know what else to registry for. I will put bath and bedding stuff on there but I think I still need more things- more choices at different prices ranges for people. I keep going over the list and I have most of the stuff on the Registry check list. I do NOT want to registry my honeymoon because we are not going through a travel agency.
Any one have any alternative ideas and suggestions other then department stores? Keep in mind, I need some lower price stuff on there so I thought going to a funiture store or such would be rude. Looking for creative suggestions- NOT Walmarts ect..

PS- my family loves the registry and it makes shopping so much easier!

Try registering for things you WANT, not necessarily need. For example, fake potted plants (or real ones), decorative pillows, picture frames, seasonal decorations, candy dishes, framed art, candles (are cheap), or ink (for your printer?). Think in terms of what you really want. OR, this is a really bad way of looking at things, but you could register for things you already have, then take them back and get the money? That's sounds mean, but its an option?

Have you thought about registering for tools and stuff at a local hardware store? I'm not sure if you're in Canada or elsewhere but one of our department hardware stores (Canadian Tire) also offers a wedding registry. If you are planning to decorate an apartment or house, you can register for the stuff you will need to do those tasks. Maybe your fiance would like some power tools for around a house you may own now or in the future. You could also try asking for gift cards. That way, people can decide the amount they are willing to spend and you can select stores where you think you can use them.

Many stores have registries which you wouldn't even think of.

Like the outdoors? Try www.rei.com
Want to do home improvements? Try www.homedepot.com
You can also register at amazon.com for books, cds, etc.

Also, have you thought of the "non-basic" stuff you might want? i.e. a creme brulee set or other kitchen gadgets? These are often available at department stores or Crate & Barrel (www.crateandbarrel.com) or Pottery Barn (www.potterybarn.com)

Non-conventional... I would suggest getting a wedding registry with Amazon.com. You can pick books and things you would like, some erotic literature for the honeymoon maybe?? ;-)

I went to a wedding where the bride and groom were in their 30's and they asked that everyone get them a gift certificate to a local grocery store. So they would be able to go over there and get groceries. They had so many people doing that, they didn't have to spend a dime on groceries for almost 6 months.
Just a suggestion.
Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials.

A great idea that i've been considering, is to register at a travel agency for your honeymoon. people can leave littel donations for your honeymoon, that you'll actually need, versus getting you stuff that you already have. and not only can it help pay for the trip, but also expenses like dinner, hotels and lugage that you might incur while on your honeymoon! i read about somewhere(of course i can't remember where) and thought it was a good idea.

How about giftcards? You can give a list of stores that you like to frequent or know that you will shop at and instead of doing a registry at ONE store, your registry can be made up of a list of stores that you would like gift cards to.

You are really stumping me.

Why not register for some "non-practical" household items you want.... Cappucino maker, drapes, Tivo, etc.

Also, a lot of websites let you make "wishlists" maybe you can go to someplace like borders.com and make a book wishlist, or something of the like.

I hope this helps.

Youc can register for your honeymoon now...and people chip in on honeymoon expenses. That could be cool...and helpful for you to have a honeymoon you wouldn't forget.
