Many people were pierced in Biblical times. In fact, if you were indentured to some one for whatever reasons temporarily you could choose to have your ear pierced as a permanent slave, if you thought the master were so good that you preferred it. As bond-servants of God we are even called to think of ourselves as feeling such a way through gratitude.
However, if your piercings are made as offerings to other idols, such as your ego or lust.... forget it you have sinned....

I was going to say there is no explicite restriction on these. But, oopps i was wrong, yes there is.
Leviticus 19:28
28 " 'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.
Verse 28 does not talk about piercings but that would pretty much be in the same vein. I have a piercing but it is not a cut for the dead. and i got it years ago.
I think it would be up to you to make that kind of decision.
God knows where your heart is.
Also, the bible says that your body is a temple, so i would think that you wouldn't want to go putting graffiti on it would you?
1 Corinthians 6:18-20
19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
P.S. These restrictions are for Jews and Christians not for those who do not believe.
Christians like Jews are to Set an Example for the rest of the world, not dictate.

Yes, the Bible states it is wrong. According to I Corinthians 6:19-20, God states, "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit ... Your body is the temple of God. Be careful where it goes. Be careful what it does. ...
I think that's pretty self explanatory. God does not want us defiling our bodies in any way, shape, or form. I think a tattoo is pretty permanent. Plus, this is what always encourages me to never get a tattoo. Do I really want to be a 75 year old woman with a butterfly tattoed on my lower back? I think not.

1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NIV)
My mom likes to quote this verse when she talks to me about my many tattoos (like the one on my back which is my avatar). I'll leave it up to you as to how you want to interpret it.

It isn't relatively a question of it being sinful or unmoral. Many Christians do item to it for the reason that they view it as desecration, chiefly if the opposite man or woman is a Christian. They realize that their frame has turn out to be a temple for the residing God and regard it the identical as such a lot individuals might view graffiti at the external of a constructing.

No, there is nothing wrong with it. there are some religions that think there is something wrong with it. Presbytarian or something like that. they think it is wrong. I have friends who can only wear skirts, no earings, no make-up, no cutting of the hair... that sort of thing. But those are just rules that some churches have because they believe it's more natural that way, and that is how god inteneded them to be. Like the man should be in charge, and women submissive and such. But I do not believe that there is anything wrong with it. Depends on the church you go to. My sister has a tattoo, she is Christian... it's an angel it says "my gardian angel" and has the date that our older sister was born and the date that she died. I don't think that God would mind that at all!

yep!!! I think Leviticus 19:28 is pretty self explanatory. As a Christian the righteousness and Holiness of Christ dwells within you. Why would you put an ugly, permanent, mark on your God given body? Think about it. As a Christian that's how I see tattoos.

I don't think so. I think the reason this debate is the debate it is is beause some take the verses in the Bible that do address it literally and others choose to look deeper into interpretation.
I think it is more important that you know why you want to tattoo or piercing or who you are doing it for.

No I don't think so. But this also applies to what you pierce and what you have tattooed on you. If you get pierced in the groin, I think there are issues with that, but anywhere else should be fine. Also the content of the tattoo!
