Bulimics typically gorge on food and then throw it all up. They think that it will help them loose weight, but most bulimics really end up staying the same or gaining weight. All they get is a screwed up asophoguses (from all the acid coming up from your stomach) and a gross taste in your mouth, and end up poor cuz they buy all that food. it also creates a gag reflex, and some people cant stop barfing once they get on a "schedule" . Many end up dehydrated and on the verge of death because while they get some calories, they lack water and many nutrients. Its complicated. A doctor could tell you better. Bulimics usually cannot stop and sometime need medical help.
They think they will loose weight, but it doesnt happen. many times they have bruised knuckles from shoving their hand in their mouth and many times it rots their teeth,

I feel horrible for all the people who go through it.... :( such horrible stories!

REMEMBER they're not to be confused with the anorexics who dont eat anything, and then their body takes the calories they need from their muslce and fat, and eventually their organs and heart.

:( so sad!!

Bulimia nervosa, more commonly known as bulimia, is an eating disorder. It is a psychological condition in which the subject engages in recurrent binge eating followed by an intentional purging. This purging is done in order to compensate for the excessive intake of the food and to prevent weight gain. Purging typically takes the form of vomiting; inappropriate use of laxatives, enemas, diuretics or other medication; excessive physical exercise, or fasting.

DSM-IV criteria
The following five criteria should be met for a patient to be diagnosed with bulimia:
[1] The patient feels incapable of controlling the urge to binge, even during the binge itself, and consumes a larger amount of food than a person would normally consume at one sitting.
[2] The patient purges him or herself of the recent intake, resorting to vomiting, laxatives, diuretics, exercising, etc.
[3] The patient engages in such behavior at least three times per week for three months.
[4] The patient's self-evaluation is unduly influenced by body shape and weight.
[5] The patient does not meet the diagnostic criteria for anorexia nervosa. (Some anorexics may demonstrate bulimic behaviours in their illness: binge-eating and purging themselves of food on a regular or infrequent basis at certain times during the course of their disease. Alternatively, some individuals might switch from having anorexia to having bulimia. The mortality rate for anorexics who practice bulimic behaviors is twice that of anorexics who do not.)
Please note that, in general, diagnostic criteria are considered a guide. A legitimate clinical diagnosis can be made when the majority of the criteria are met.

It is caused by depression, or something major that causes stress in your life. It is when you eat food then either throw it back up or give yourself an enima so you will poop it all out. In the advaced stages, people think they are fat, and start weighing the food that goes in, and the food that comes out. It is nothing to be teased about or to use as an insult. Bulimia is an advaced stage of anorexia, which is when you don't eat food at all. Actually they can be the other way around too. If you want to learn more about these mental illnesses e mail me.

In short: You die. It takes awhile. Even if you don't die, you'll loose irreversible muscle mass around your heart. You'll damage your kidneys and other organs...Destroy your teeth, your stomach, your esophagus...et cetera. It's pretty horrible.

As quoted:
Eating disorders have one of the highest death rates of all mental illnesses. The Eating Disorders Association (UK) estimates a 10% mortality rate. An 18% mortality rate has been suggested for Anorexia Nervous.[1] In addition to the risk of suicide, “death can occur after severe binging in bulimia nervous as well”.[18] For perspective, these death rates are higher than those of some forms of cancer.

Bulimia is an eating disorder. A person with bulimia will binge eat and then throw it up afterwards. People with the disorder have a mixed image of their body. Your teeth can rot, acid reflux disorder, no nutrition, and so on and so forth....

I had a relative who was bulimic. She vomited after every meal and after a while, was able to control how much she vomited. Eventually, the enamal came off her teeth and now she has a lot of other problems. You will be depleting you body of every essential nutrient and you will look like walking death. Please find out why you are doing this.

They throw up everything they eat before it has time to digest. It could cause you a lot of problems. It could tear up your throat and stomach, make all of your organs work harder and could eventually make them stop working all together. You would become very week..lose your hair, become very pale and make you feel like you are hopeless. There is nothing good about bulimia.

people become bulimic to lose weight fast by eating a lot and then throwing up. their bodies slowly deteriorate because they are depriving themselve of food and their throat and mouth is like rotting becuase they always throw up and the stomach acid ruins their teeth and throat.
