Hello, the pains and tightening in your stomach are more than likely Braxton Hicks Contractions. It is just your bodys way of preparing you for labor. As far as the discharge, thats normal, but it isn't necessarily your mucus plug. So long as you are still feeling your baby move regularly--don't worry! Since you went early with your 1st child-at 37 weeks- there is a chance that you could go early with this one as well. Here is my advice to you--relax as much as you can and have your hospital bag ready to go. Your baby could be here anyday. To answer your question about how long your baby would have to stay in the hospital depends on several different factors. If you have had a healthy pregnancy then the baby may not have to spend any extra time in the hospital. And since you said that you are a week ahead by the ultrasound means your baby is probably of good size! Good luck to you & best wishes for an easy labor!

Well, My dr. has always told me that 38 weks is full term, not 36 as some posted. actually week 36 is the start of the 9th month (weeks 36-40) but 38-42 weeks is the full term window. I have always heard the baby will have to stay in the hospital until it reaches when you would be 38 weeks OR when the baby is at least 5 pounds (given that everythign else is ok, i.e, eating, peeing, jaundice, etc)
The last few weeks of pregnany i always felt crampy and contractions, even when my due date came and went. You body is preparing for the big day.
As far as the survival rate, at 35-36 weeks you have nothing to worry about!! Bets of luck to you and your baby:)

ok UHMMMM 36 weeks IS full term....9 months, altho I know being a Mom myself that a pregnancy term is 10 months or 40 weeks. If your baby is born at 35, 36 or 37 weeks....he/she is a full term baby. The discharge is your mucus plug and thats normal to lose...it means you are ready to eface and dialate. And if this is your second baby you should know that the cramps you are having is the early stages of labor.

This might be something that you would need to discuss with your Dr. I never had any of that with either one of my kids. I would think that the hospital stay would depend on how well your baby does after being born, and how strong it is. Some stay longer than others. You need to call your Dr, and talk to them, but in the meantime, just stay off your feet, and don't do anything to over do it. I would not walk much, or do anything for that matter. Let your husband/someone do it for you and you take it easy.. Good Luck, and don't worry that much, it won't help much to worry..
