Y Geiriadur Mawr - It's a giant dictionary costs about £40 but is really useful & is what they recommend at Uni for a degree.

I wish I could remember the name of the Welsh dictionary I used, it was really good.
I went to the bookshop and looked at all the ones available. A couple were instantly 'no-no' because the print was so small! The one I went for (I had been learning Welsh for a year or two) was really good, the print size was reasonable but not only that, it gave lots of examples of phrases as well as the translation of the word.
I think it was about ten pounds, which was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but it was well worth the price, and it was about the size of a novel, not a pocket dictionary and not a massive volume.
If you go to a good bookshop and look at the Welsh dictionaries, you should recognise it. Have a look at a few pages, you'll see which one suits her needs.

Your mother would probably like something small and straightforward. The one I keep by me is "Y Geiriadur Cymraeg Cyfoes" or "The Dictionary of Modern Welsh" by H. Meurig Evans. It was published by Hughes & Son of Wrexham and although my copy is 25 years old I see that it was updated in 1992 and then was selling for a modest pounds 12. 99. It is smallish and transportable.

There are MANY Goddess' and Gods of the Celts. There isn't just one single one... that is Wicca giving a generalization about "Goddess Worship" mainly. As for Cernunnos, there is Nothing written about him in ANY of the ancient writings. There is only one place the name itself is written and that's at Notre Dame and it's assumed, from there, that all Celtic "horned Gods" are Cernunnos. This one is a mystery for those outside of his worship. The name Cernunnos itself simply means "horned one". If you are wanting to come to a better understanding of the Celtic Deities then I suggest getting a book on Celtic Mythology. This will give you a better idea how the Celts viewed these things.
