By volume, it would depend on what kind. For either bread or bagels, whole weat and grains will be healthier than plain white, because of the fiber.
Bagels are unleavened and so are much denser than bread. So one bagel cut in half will have more carbs and more calories than 2 pieces of bread.
Whether less carbs/calories is less healthy is really a matter of your personal diet and activity level.

Another factor is that bagels are often flavored. If it is a fruit bagel, such as blueberry, it will have much more sugar, making it less healthy.

Bread, Bagels have quite a high fat intake read the back. The only thing is that a bagels do taste a lot nicer. Cinamon bagels are the best.

The 1st poster is correct. They are less healthy assume you are comparing apples to apples. (plain vs plain, whole wheat vs whole wheat.....etc) There is no fat in most bagels and there is no fat in most bread. So, it comes down to carbs and quantities. A small bagel is is the same as about 3-4 pieces of sliced bread. A bagel you commonly find in NY style deli's has as manhy calories and carbs as 7 slices of bread.

depends. wholemeal or granary bread is good for you as it's lower GI than white bread or white bagels. but you can get some really tasty and healthy wholemeal seeded bagels that are low GI and pretty good. anyway - either is ok as part of a balanced diet.

depends what kind of bread. if the bread is white, then the bagle is healthier. if u are eating whole grain bread, then the bread is better(even if the bagel is whole grain because whole grain bagels arent actually whole grain)
