I am familiar with "voice" recognition programs that type the words you dictate into it, but is there a "CD or cassette" recognition program that will type from an electronic device other than a voice?

Plug the headphone output of your CD player or cassette player into the line input jack of your sound card. You may have to adjust the volume until you get the best results.
If the speech is clear, the voice recognition program should handle it fine.
Just be aware, that after the whole thing is transcribed, you'll have to go through the whole thing and correct the mistakes made by the software. Also, use something like Dragon naturally speaking Preferred so continuous speech will be acceptable.

Plug the output of your sound card into the input of your microphone. Play the CD, and your computer will think it's coming from the microphone!

LOL....NO.

That type of technology is still like decades ahead.

I mean, the voice recognition we have today still has plenty of bugs in it.

nope ( as for playing the CD you would have to listen to some very sedate music - the singing voice is very different from the speaking voice )

oh yea JUST BUY THE LYRICS !!!!!!!!!!!!!
