If they find it worth searching for, then it has value, if only to themself.

I think whenever we lose something precious, it automatically
has tremendous value,whether it is a drawing on a piece of paper that our child drew
a diamond ring, a $10 watch, an old handbag, etc etc.
If it is precious to us, and has sentimental value than we would do everything in our power to search for it.
If it dosn't mean much to us and has NO(sentimental value) than, no we wouldn't look for it.

If it doesn't have some sort of value to them (including sentimental) - no, probably not. But if it does, well then of course.

everything has value even if it is only sentimental value i.e somone has brought it for you.
