For some time now we have been putting up with scrambled picture, (like a broken jigsaw puzzle) also the sound breaks up. Of late it has happened regularly, but not on all channels. For this we pay £21.a month. I also have an additional setup in the bedroom for which I paid a one off £20. This one is seldom effected, I can get the same channel on both and only one is faulty. The first was setup by Sky about six years ago, which I have replaced the digi box, and resited the dish when I built the extention some four years ago. The second, I set up last year on a seperate dish and box. Weather was my first thought, but then why only one? We have unpluged the box and removed and replaced the card, and it may work for a while, but not this evening, it's OK now but fails intermittently.
Is it the lanb unit on the dish, the box or the card? though we have tried the card in both. Please help I don't want to replace the wrong part.
Thank you.

Before going to the hassle of swapping downleads and checking LNB's etc, try re-booting the software. Normally there's a 'Back Up' button on the front of the unit, hold it in and pull the plug on the unit, replace the plug (while holding the button in) and wait until you see an update message on the TV screen (usually within 15 - 20 seconds) - when the message is up release the button. Update varies from around 3 to 10 minutes.
I've had the same problem a few times and this has cured it every time.

Good luck.

so you have 2 dishes? are they both sited in the same place or quite apart from each other?
it sounds a bit like its the cable that could be faulty or loose, if the other system is working fine.
go out to the dish thats causing the problem and stand underneath it, look directly in the direction the dish is pointing and see if there are any obstructions. the digital signal is very precise and, therefore, more prone to 'line of sight' problems than the old analogue dishes. e.g if you wave a thin branch in front of the digital dish it will intermittantly cut out your signal, its that sensitive.

If you have one good picture it suggests that the dish is aligned correctly. The question is do you have a dual LNB which must also be aligned correctly, OR do you have two separate LNB's on a bracket which would suggest that one is 'Off' a bit. If you have a dual LNB then either one half is faulty or the downlead to the bad signal is leaking (water ingress) or damaged or has a poor connection somewhere.

If its accessible try swapping the downleads at the LNB and see if the problem swaps over!

Not sure why but I do have the same problem, I have sky plus downstairs and normal sky upstairs and I only get this problem with skyplus, I have often thought it was the weather or an atmospheric change.

ours does it all the time, it is usually down to weather, but police, ambulances and taxis affect it too. good luck on finding an answer.

try this....on sky remote: press services.. system set-up then press 01select...
choose: 'new installation' and it will re-tune your box... also 'default transponder' is in there somewhere which can help to..
