Butter Cookies

2 c butter -- softened
2 c sugar
3 eggs
1 tb vanilla extract
6 c all-purpose flour
2 ts baking powder
decorator's sugar --
optional
These are without a doubt the world's best butter cookies.
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla;
mix well. Combine flour and baking powder; gradually add to
creamed mixture and mix well. Shape with a cookie press. Place on
ungreased cookie sheets. Decorate with sugar if desired. Bake at
350-degrees for 10-12 minutes or until edges are slightly brown.
Yield: 18-19 dozen 1-inch cookies

1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
Mix together all ingredients until well-blended.
Roll 2-inch sized pieces of dough into balls and place on cookie sheet. Flatten each with the back of a fork.
Bake 13 to 15 minutes until light brown. Let cool on wire rack.

ESTHER's BUTTER COOKIES:
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
2 1/2 cups flour, sifted
1/4 teaspoon salt
In large bowl cream butter, sugar and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Add flour and salt; mix thoroughly. if necessary work the flour in with your hands.
Place half the dough in cookie press cylinder. Press cookies out on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes or until golden in color. Remove to rack to cool.
