I made some chili around noon today & it is in the crock pot simmering. It still seems watery - any suggestions?

Add Masa for thickener Put two or three heaping teaspoons full in a cup add cold water until it makes a paste thin enough to run slowly (DON'T add hot water it will thicken so fast you can't get it out of the cup) stir the Chili while adding the masa so there will be no lumps

Tomato paste works well to thicken and won't mess up the flavor to much, if it does change the flavor a bit, just add a little more chili powder. That is what I use to thicken mine up.

In Texas, we add masa to our chili to thicken it. Flour usually adds a dough taste, but masa is a corn product - it is used to make tamales and in other Mexican food recipes. You can usually get it in most grocery stores.

P.S. The chili mixes that you can buy use masa as well.

I make my grandpa's chili several times every year and when I need a little thickness I always add a little corn starch right it, stir it and let it sit. Add more if needed. I've tried flour, but it modifies the flavors... that's just my experience, though.

to thicken any soup or sauce, add corn starch. This applies to chili too.

Use tomatoe paste.

Best beanless chilli EVER:

2 qts. tomatoe juice
1 can tomatoe paste
5 lbs. ground beef
1/4 cup chilli powder
1/2 cup dried onions
1/8 cup brown sugar

Fry the ground beef and drain well.
In large pot mix other ingredients well. Heat. Add ground beef.

Serves about 14.

You'll eat on it for days...

If you add corn starch you need to mix it with cold water first. like a tablespoon corn starch to 1/4 cup cold water.
But if I was you I would just do dry potato flakes about 1/4 c. at a time stir each time
