diarrea is usually your body trying to get rid of something bad. Drink lots of water. For gas, just try some baking soda stirred into a glass of water. Gas comes from the stomach fluid coming up into the esophogus and buring it. Some people just have a problem with that.

This sounds more like IBS, and I think you need a more sympathetic doctor because this can be easily treated.
In the meantime, for the diarrhoea he'll need to drink about 3 or 4 litres of sugary drinks per day (fruit juice, squash etc), to make up for the fluid he is losing. You can also get rehydration sachets from the chemist, which are added to water. They're not the nicest to drink though! Also try and get him to avoid dairy products (I know, easier said than done!) and eating salty foods (crisps etc) and lots of carbohydrates (pasta, rice, bread, potatoes etc) should help.
Rennie Deflatine is good for the gas, and there are lots of natural remedies for the diarrhoea on this site:

Good luck, I hope he feels better soon. And do think about changing doctor!

if he is not lactose intolerant suggest he eat yogurt. Once gas has formed in the gut, you can only pass it to rid yourself of it. Peppermint herbal teas will help prevent gas. Also suggest he go on a bland diet for a week or two and be cautious about what he eats in future.

tell him to not eat anything greasy, just light soups, baked potato, chicken, and you can make him a tea of Cinnammon, anise seed and peppermint, you put that in a little cacerole or pot with water until it starts to boil then put it in a tea cup and serve it to him with a little sugar,do this a few times a day.
